Setting the Table for Summer Fun

Posted July 20, 2011

It’s time to start getting creative this summer!  If you are hosting a cookout to finish off the summer, consider trying something new.  Whether that “something new” is adding cute decorative pieces to the picnic table, or concocting tasty drinks, be bold with your ideas!

First, set the table for summer fun with eye catching tableware. A great way to personalize your party is to have decorative placemats to add some color. These are great for children’s parties to ensure an easy cleanup, even when faced with the messiest of eaters.

Next, come up with a summer drink idea to wow your guests.  Go a step further than the typical lemonade and make a frozen drink.  A favorite of mine is similar to a Pina Colada and is easy to make.  Here’s how to make this delicious Pineapple Coconut Slush for children or adults to enjoy:

  • 1 cup pineapple juice

  • 1 cup crushed pineapple

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (canned or fresh)

  • juice from one lime

  • ice to top off blender

Blend the ingredients until the ice is slushy and pour into glasses to enjoy immediately!

Have fun with it, and I wish you luck with your upcoming summer fun!
